One person died and three others were hurt on Monday evening in a tricycle crash on Haske Road, close to the Lamingo Golf Club in Jos, Plateau State.
The accident happened around 5 p.m. It involved two commercial tricycles, known as Keke Napep.
Eyewitnesses, including Mr Joseph Haruna, shared details with PUNCH Metro in Jos on Monday. He said the crash occurred when one tricycle driver tried to avoid a pothole and hit another tricycle coming from the opposite direction.
Haruna said the crash was serious. One passenger died at the scene, and three others were injured.
“The injured victims were quickly taken away by bystanders and emergency workers to a nearby hospital for treatment,” he explained.
Another eyewitness, who asked to remain unnamed, called the incident tragic. They urged the government to fix the bad parts of the road quickly.
“The potholes on this road are dangerous for drivers and other people using the road. Action is needed to prevent more deaths,” the witness said.
The accident caused a traffic jam on Haske Road as residents and commuters stopped to look at the scene.
When we reached out, the Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Plateau State, Route Commander Peter Longsan, said he would gather details about the crash.
“I will get back to you,” he stated.
But he had not done so by the time we finished this report.
As of now, traffic and emergency agencies have not released any official statement about the accident.
