One person died and three others were hurt on Monday evening in a tricycle crash along Haske Road near the Lamingo Golf Club in Jos, Plateau State.
The accident happened around 5 p.m. It involved two commercial tricycles, known as Keke Napep.
Eyewitnesses, including Mr Joseph Haruna, shared details with PUNCH Metro in Jos on Monday. He said the accident occurred when one tricycle driver tried to avoid a pothole and crashed into another tricycle coming from the opposite direction.
Haruna reported that the crash was severe. One passenger died at the scene, while three others got different levels of injuries.
“The injured victims were quickly taken by sympathisers and emergency responders to a nearby hospital for treatment,” he said.
Another witness, who asked to remain anonymous, described the crash as tragic. They called on authorities to quickly fix the bad parts of the road.
“The potholes along this road are dangerous for drivers and other road users. Something must be done before more lives are lost,” the witness added.
The accident led to temporary traffic jam along the Haske Road area. Many residents and commuters stopped to look at the scene.
When we reached out to the Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Plateau State, Route Commander Peter Longsan, he said he would find out more details about the crash.
“I will get back to you,” he said.
But as of now, he has not provided any updates. The relevant traffic and emergency management agencies have not released an official statement about the accident.
