One-third of Nigerian pilgrims who went for this year’s Hajj needed medical care. This was revealed by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). A total of 1,500 pilgrims received treatment for different health problems during the Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
NAHCON's Chairman, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, said the medical services were important for the pilgrims' health. He mentioned that the health issues varied from minor sicknesses to serious conditions that needed immediate care.
The commission set up many medical clinics at the holy sites to meet the health needs of the pilgrims. These clinics had qualified medical staff ready to give necessary treatments and support.
Hassan pointed out that managing health during the Hajj is very important. He said NAHCON took steps to make sure pilgrims could access medical care when they needed it. He also urged future pilgrims to take care of their health and seek medical advice before starting their journey.
The report from NAHCON reminds us of the health challenges pilgrims face during Hajj. It shows the need for enough medical facilities and support for future pilgrimages.
