The airlift of Nigerian pilgrims for the 2023 Hajj starts today. This is an important day for many who have been getting ready for this spiritual trip. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has put all arrangements in place to make sure the process goes smoothly for the pilgrims.
This year, more than 40,000 Nigerian pilgrims are expected to take part in the Hajj. This pilgrimage is one of the five pillars of Islam. The commission has stressed the need to follow all rules set by the Saudi authorities for the safety and well-being of the pilgrims.
In a statement, the Chairman of NAHCON, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, asked the pilgrims to be patient and cooperative during the airlift. He assured them that everything has been arranged to make their travel and accommodation in Saudi Arabia easy.
The airlift will happen in phases. Different airlines will transport the pilgrims from various states in Nigeria. Each airline has specific dates and schedules to ensure that all pilgrims get to Mecca on time for the Hajj rituals.
Pilgrims are advised to arrive at the airports early and have all their travel documents ready for checks. NAHCON has also given tips on what to pack and how to prepare for the journey ahead.
As the airlift begins, the commission has called on everyone involved to work together to make this year's Hajj operation successful.
