Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has asked Galatasaray to sign fellow Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare as a backup striker for the 2026/27 season. The Turkish champions might need more attackers soon, as Argentine forward Mauro Icardi is set to leave the club.
Turkish journalist Burak Eren reported that Osimhen has recommended Arokodare to Galatasaray. The two Nigerian players have a close friendship, which makes Osimhen’s suggestion important.
Arokodare has called Osimhen an inspiration before. Since Osimhen is well-respected in the Super Eagles, the club is likely to take his advice seriously.
Arokodare, who is 24 years old, is available this summer after a tough debut season at Wolverhampton Wanderers. He scored six goals and provided two assists in 38 games after joining from Belgian club Genk for €26 million last year.
Wolves have been relegated from the Premier League and need to cut costs. Arokodare is one of the players they are willing to sell.
The tall striker had previously attracted interest from Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş, and Trabzonspor. But moves to those clubs now seem unlikely.
A move to Galatasaray could be a better option for him, especially since he would play alongside Osimhen.
Despite his challenging season in England, Arokodare has a solid career record with 90 goals in 259 club games. This shows he has potential if he finds the right team.
Wolves have not set a formal price for Arokodare yet, but they are open to offers. A loan deal could also be possible if Galatasaray wants to try him out before making a long-term commitment.
