The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress stayed quiet on Wednesday after Governor Ademola Adeleke revealed a campaign council for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in Osogbo.

Adeleke, in a statement from his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, named 344 people on the Osun State presidential campaign council for Tinubu.

Key names include former Governor Adebisi Akande; Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru; Bola Oyebamiji, who is the party’s governorship candidate for the 2026 election; and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Foluke Etteh.

Other names on the list are Senators Iyiola Omisore, Jide Omoworare and Sola Adeyeye; Yinka Ajayi; former Osun Deputy Governor, Titilayo Ponnle; Akintunde Adegboye; and Mumini Olabanji.

The list also features state executives from the APC, the Peoples Democratic Party and the Accord; candidates from APC and Accord for the National Assembly and state House of Assembly; former National Assembly members; former state lawmakers; and chieftains from both PDP and Accord in the state. Local government chairmen from both PDP and APC are also included.

Rasheed said that Adeleke, as the state coordinator of the council, will manage its activities.

He mentioned that the council would be inaugurated in Osogbo on Thursday.

But worries came up about the involvement of opposition figures on the council. Sources in Adeleke’s camp and the Osun APC said there has not been a formal meeting to plan how Tinubu’s re-election campaign would run in the state since Adeleke took on the coordinator role.

An Osun APC source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not allowed to comment, said, "The two camps have not met. We just saw the list like everyone else in the state. There is uncertainty around it, but I can’t officially say what the APC reaction will be."

Attempts to get an official response from the Osun APC about the list and the governor’s invitation to the council inauguration were not successful.

The Osun APC spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, could not be reached by phone as his calls went unanswered.

As of 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday, responses to text messages and WhatsApp messages asking for his reaction to the list were still pending.
