The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has spoken out against the kidnapping of Mrs Busayo Adelabu John-Paul. She is the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu. Gunmen took her and her twin children in the early hours of Wednesday in Ibadan.

A statement from the state APC Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, called on Governor Seyi Makinde to work with security agencies. They want to tackle the rising insecurity in the state.

Sadare expressed concern that Busayo's kidnapping happened when many people were already worried about other unresolved kidnappings. These include cases involving school children and their teachers in Oriire Local Government Area. Two staff members from the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria were also taken at Idi-Ayunre in Oluyole Local Government Area.

Reports say John-Paul was taken with her 12-year-old twin sons at Elewura-Challenge in Ibadan South West Local Government Area. Armed attackers reportedly followed their car from home. They stopped the vehicle around 7.30 am at the location where the incident happened.

The state police command, through spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade, announced that an investigation has started. They urged residents to stay calm.

Sadare said, "We use this medium to appeal to the relevant authorities at the Federal, State and Local Government levels. They need to take a critical look at the security situation in Oyo. We need to tighten all loose ends to protect lives and property of citizens, no matter their background or status."

He continued, "We demand immediate rescue of all Oriire school abductees, two CRIN staff, Mrs Busayo John-Paul and her children, as well as others in captivity. We also call for urgent action from the government, especially from Governor Makinde, and security agencies to stop the ongoing kidnappings and violent attacks in the state."

Sadare added, "No citizen should live in fear. The current situation in Oyo is unacceptable. We urge Governor Makinde to seek help to prevent things from getting worse. Right now, nobody feels safe in the state, and it has never been this bad."
