Oyo State Partners with VIYA Health to Boost Family Planning Services

VIYA Health is the main distributor of Incepta Pharmaceutical’s WHO PreQualified Family Planning solution, DMPA SC, in Nigeria. They recently had important talks with the Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board to improve access to affordable family planning services in the State.

The meeting took place on Thursday, 6 August 2026, at the Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board, located at the State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State. The discussions focused on increasing access to Medogen SubQ, a family planning product approved by the World Health Organization. This WHO prequalification shows that Medogen SubQ meets strict international quality standards. This means healthcare providers and women can trust it as a safe, effective, and affordable contraceptive option.

Dr Muideen Babatunde Olatunji, the Executive Secretary of the Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board, welcomed the collaboration. He noted that Oyo State has always supported family planning initiatives and new programs. He emphasized the State’s commitment to investing in health supplies, including family planning products, and working together in other areas of public health.

Dr Olatunji said that making a wider range of safe and affordable family planning options available through the State’s Primary Health Centres will help improve maternal and child health. It will also empower individuals and families to make informed choices about their reproductive health.

"The Oyo State Government is dedicated to improving access to quality primary healthcare services for our people. We appreciate VIYA Health for partnering with the Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board to increase access to safe, effective, and affordable family planning products in our healthcare facilities. This partnership will enhance our healthcare system and ultimately lead to better health for women, children, and families in the state," he added.

During the meeting, Billy Shoaga, the Business Lead at VIYA Health Nigeria, shared that this ongoing partnership shows VIYA Health’s dedication to improving access to quality reproductive healthcare. They aim to work closely with State Governments and other key organizations.

Shoaga explained that increasing the availability of affordable, high-quality family planning products is crucial for better maternal and child health. It helps meet family planning needs and empowers women to make informed choices about their reproductive health.
