The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested 83-year-old Uloma Uchechi Sunday again for drug offences. This comes just a year after she was found guilty of similar crimes.

She was picked up on Wednesday, October 7, at her home in Ite-Uzo, Umuaguma, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State. Reports say she had drugs tied around her waist with a wrapper.

Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, said her arrest happened after they received solid information. This information suggested she was running a dangerous drug joint that was causing trouble in the community.

Babafemi mentioned that Uloma was first arrested on May 17, 2025, along with her 32-year-old daughter, Chisom Uchechi, at the same home.

They found 50 grammes of methamphetamine, 522 grammes of skunk, 260 grammes of fresh cannabis leaves, and 12 grammes of tramadol with them.

According to the statement, “Both pleaded guilty and were sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment or a fine of N200,000 each. They paid the fine and were released by the court.”

The NDLEA spokesperson claimed that after her release, the elderly woman went back to selling drugs.

“Undeterred, the notorious old woman promptly returned to the criminal trade and escalated the scale by setting up a drug joint where she harbours dangerous characters,” the statement added.
