The Bauchi State Police Command has called on parents and guardians to pay more attention to their children, especially girls. This follows the reported sexual assault of three minors in different incidents across the state.

In a statement released on Thursday, the police said the victims are aged nine, 10, and 11. They added that three suspects have been arrested and are currently in police custody for investigation.

Nafiu Habib, the police spokesperson, said the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, described these incidents as troubling and condemned the alleged acts. He stated, "The Commissioner of Police condemns these acts in the strongest terms, describing them as inhumane, barbaric and an assault on our shared humanity."

Aliyu reassured the victims and their families that the police would conduct a thorough investigation and prosecution to ensure justice is served. He urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to stay alert, watch over their children, and report any suspicious activities or abuse to the police.

He added, "The protection of our children is a collective responsibility."

In detailing the incidents, the police said the first case was reported on Monday at the Tilden Fulani Division in Toro Local Government Area. A woman claimed that her 11-year-old daughter was lured into a narrow passage by a 47-year-old man, Auwal Ibrahim, who gave her N500 before he allegedly sexually assaulted her.

The police took the girl to the General Hospital, Toro, for medical care. The suspect reportedly denied the allegations. Detectives visited the scene and continued their investigation to understand what happened.

In the second case, a worried mother from Gwallameji, Bauchi, reported at the E-Division on Tuesday. She said her nine-year-old daughter had been lured into the room of a 35-year-old man, Sabitu Muhammed, who allegedly sexually assaulted her multiple times.

The police reported that the suspect has been arrested. The victim was taken to the Police Clinic in Bauchi for examination and support. The case has been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

In the third incident, a 40-year-old woman from Wuntin Dada reported at the B-Division, GRA Bauchi, on Tuesday. She said her 10-year-old daughter was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 22-year-old neighbor, Anas Adam.

According to the police, the girl was sent to buy sugar that evening when the suspect allegedly stopped her on her way home and took her to his house, where the assault occurred. Detectives visited the scene, and the child was taken to the police clinic for medical examination. The suspect was arrested.

The command has repeated its call for collective vigilance in protecting children. They stated that the suspects will face serious consequences if found guilty.
