Police nab 11 suspects in Ogun, seize stolen vehicles and guns

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects. They also recovered two vehicles believed to be stolen, three guns, and 25 Automated Teller Machine cards. These operations took place between September 16 and September 26, 2026.

The police also took eight vehicles for obstructing traffic during a "No Parking" operation near the Sagamu Interchange Bridge.

Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, shared this news in a statement on Sunday. He said these successes came from effective policing, targeted operations, and proactive enforcement.

He added that these operations were led by Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni.

Babaseyi stated, "Among the highlights are the arrest of 11 suspects, recovery of two suspected stolen vehicles, three firearms, 25 ATM cards, multiple mobile phones, assorted electrical materials, and the impounding of eight vehicles for obstruction of traffic."

Detectives from the Owode Egba Division recovered a stolen commercial TVS motorcycle in Mokoloki Village on September 17. This came after a complaint was made on September 16.

"Two suspects, Rasheed Abdul ‘M’ and Saula Meshinoye ‘M’, were arrested for the theft, while another suspect, Saheed ‘M’, is still on the run," the statement said.

The police said, "Investigation is ongoing, with efforts underway to catch the fleeing suspect."

In another case, Olorunda Division operatives stopped three people along Ayetoro Road on September 19. They were allegedly transporting stolen electrical materials on a motorcycle.

"Two suspects, Mutiu Gafar ‘M’, 19 years old, and Fatai Obasanmi ‘M’, 37 years old, were arrested, while Tosin ‘M’ escaped," the statement added.

"The recovered items included bundles of electrical wiring, a change-over electrical box, and a circuit breaker box, believed to have been stolen from a home in the area."

The investigation is still ongoing to catch the suspect who ran away.

In another operation on September 21, SWAT operatives from Base 7, Abule-Iroko, arrested three suspects. They were caught with an unregistered tricycle and an unregistered TVS motorcycle near Dalemo, Ota.

The suspects are Olamide Ayandele, 30, Tope Samuel, 40, and Ayo Peter Ojo, 30. The statement mentioned, "Preliminary investigation linked the suspects to vehicle theft around the Ijoko area."

The police also mentioned that efforts are ongoing to find and arrest more people connected to these activities.

On September 22, the Igbesa Division arrested Ameachine Anthony, 45, over a fraud case involving N2.5 million. The police recovered 25 ATM cards and several mobile phones from him.

"Preliminary investigation shows an alleged scheme involving utility bills and new SIM cards used through associates to open bank accounts. The ATM cards were allegedly used for fraud," the statement explained.

The suspect and the items have been sent to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

Also, on September 22, SWAT operatives arrested Peter Olanrewaju, 34, after getting information about a suspected cult gathering. The statement noted, "Further investigation led to the arrest of Adebayo Sodiq ‘M’, 36, and the recovery of one pump-action rifle and two locally made pistols."

The police added, "Investigation is ongoing to find out how they got the guns and to identify others involved."

Meanwhile, detectives from the Ijebu-Ode Area Crime Office recovered a Safira vehicle that was reported stolen and arrested Olatunji Olalekan. This followed what the police called discreet investigation, intelligence gathering, and tracking.

The vehicle has been secured as evidence, and the investigation continues to find out how it was stolen and recovered.

The Sagamu Area Command and nearby divisions also carried out a "No Parking" operation around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge on September 26. They impounded eight vehicles blocking the road to ensure smooth traffic and safety for road users.

The police said, "The affected vehicles will be processed for prosecution on September 28, 2026, and similar operations will continue as needed."

Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, praised the officers for their hard work and the public for their cooperation. He promised that the command will continue proactive policing and encouraged residents to stay alert and report any useful information to the police.
