The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Nasarawa State has arrested a man suspected to be the leader of a motorcycle gang in Lafia, the state capital.
The suspect, Salihu Ahmadu, also known as "Officer" or "Boss," was caught on September 8, 2026, at the Gandu area near the Federal University of Lafia, according to the NSCDC.
This information came from a statement shared with our reporter in Lafia on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations and Strategic Communications Officer, SC Jerry Victor.
The statement revealed that Ahmadu was named as the leader of the gang during a parade of suspects on August 14, 2026, but he was not found at that time.
Victor said, "It would be recalled that during the parade of suspects by the Command on 14th August, 2026, in connection with the case of a suspected motorcycle syndicate operating within Lafia metropolis, Salihu Ahmadu, also known as Officer or Boss, was identified as the alleged kingpin who was then at large."
"Determined to bring all those connected with the syndicate to justice, the Command intensified its intelligence-led operations, which culminated in the successful arrest of the suspect on 8th September, 2026, at the Gandu area around the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA)."
Victor mentioned that the State Commandant, Brah Samson Umoru, praised the officers involved in the operation for their hard work and commitment to catching suspects who try to escape.
He assured the people of Nasarawa State that the command will keep using intelligence gathering, community partnerships, and proactive operations to find and break down criminal groups in the state.
"Salihu Ahmadu will be taken before a court of competent jurisdiction to join his already arrested gang members for prosecution in accordance with the law.
"The Command therefore urges members of the public to continue to provide credible and timely information that can assist security agencies in preventing and combating criminal activities across the State," the statement concluded.
