Operatives from the Ogun State Police have arrested two people after breaking up a robbery at a student hostel in the Eruku/Agbon area of Ewekoro Local Government Area.

The suspects are Waris Dauda and Tiamiyu Abiodun. They were caught in the early hours of Sunday, September 13, 2026, after police got a distress call about armed robbers attacking students at the hostel.

Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Police Public Relations Officer for Ogun State Command, shared details on X on Wednesday. The robbery took place around 2:40 a.m. when police operatives from the Ewekoro Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, rushed to the scene.

The police reported that the suspects left their stolen items in a school bag and tried to run away when they saw the police coming. "However, the team pursued and successfully apprehended two suspects," the statement said.

A search of the abandoned bag revealed 11 different iPhones, an HP laptop, and some clothing items. The police mentioned that some victims had already recognized the recovered items as theirs.

Preliminary investigations showed that the gang forced one victim to transfer N200,000 into an account during the robbery. Detectives have visited the scene, collected evidence of forced entry, and secured the recovered items, according to the police.

The police also said that searches at the homes of the two suspects did not turn up any more incriminating evidence. The suspects and the recovered items are being moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran.
