The Kano State Police Command has arrested two 19-year-old boys for having a gun without permission. They found a locally made revolver and two bullets during the operation.

The police said one suspect, Rufai Ahmed from Hotoro Quarters, was caught around 10:30 PM on October 11, 2026. A surveillance team saw a tricycle on Sokoto Road and suspected something was wrong.

CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations Officer, shared this information on Thursday. Officers from the Farm Centre Police Division searched the tricycle and found a bag with the gun and bullets inside.

Ahmed was arrested right away. The police took the gun and bullets as evidence.

"Further investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, led to the arrest of another suspect, Aliyu Ibrahim, 19, from Kawo Quarters, Kano, in connection with the case," the statement said.

The police mentioned that these arrests followed orders from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu. The focus is on intelligence-led policing to find illegal guns and stop crime.

Kiyawa stated, "The Commissioner of Police directed investigators to intensify their inquiries, after which the suspects would be charged in court." Bakori praised the officers for their sharpness and professionalism.

He also emphasized the command's promise to fight illegal arms and other crimes in the state. The police urged the community to help by providing timely and trustworthy information to prevent crime.
