Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has talked about his tough childhood. He shared that he sold sachet water to pay for his education without help from anyone. Now, he takes care of his family even though he was once seen as the "olodo" in his home.
Portable made these comments during an episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast. A clip of this interview was shared as a YouTube Shorts video by Glitch Africa Studios on Monday. He reflected on his early challenges, family issues, and his strong desire to finish school.
He explained that he could not finish his education back then because he had to support himself. "I no finish school; the time wey I dey go school, I sell pure water, I no see anybody to sponsor me," he said.
Despite this, Portable remains hopeful about going back to school. He said, "I will still finish school, I be student of Kwara Poly."
The singer also talked about his family. He mentioned that while his father paid for his brothers' and sisters' education, he had to take care of himself and was seen as the less intelligent one. "My papa send my brothers and sisters go school, na me be Olodo but now, na me dey feed all of them," he stated.
