Trabzonspor manager Thomas Reis hopes Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu will return quickly after he had to leave the pitch due to injury. This happened during the club’s 4-2 away win against Finland’s KuPS Kuopio in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday.
Onuachu scored the opening goal in the third minute with help from Mohamed Salah. But he was taken off in the 10th minute. The club has not shared details about the injury or how long he might be out.
This was Trabzonspor’s first match in this season’s tournament. The win marked their first European victory since August 1, 2024, and their third straight win overall.
After the match, Reis commented, “Onuachu was very unlucky. He’s a player who works very well in training. He started the match well and scored a nice goal. It’s a very unfortunate injury.
“I hope he’ll be back soon. Injuries aren’t an excuse for us; we can’t make excuses. Injuries are opportunities for other players. I hope it won’t last too long and he’ll rejoin us soon.”
The goal was Onuachu’s third in 10 games this season. He has found it hard to score, but he still brings a strong physical presence and is a threat for the Turkish club.
