Trabzonspor coach Thomas Reis has given an injury update on Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu. He confirmed that Onuachu will not play on Thursday when Trabzonspor faces Scottish team Heart of Midlothian F.C. in the UEFA Conference League.
The 32-year-old Super Eagles player got injured during last Thursday’s 4-2 win over KuPS. He scored the first goal early in the game but had to leave the pitch in the 10th minute due to the injury.
This injury means he will also miss the important match against Besiktas on Monday.
At a press conference on Wednesday before the European match, Reis shared when Onuachu might be back. He said the striker could return to play on Monday, October 26, when Trabzonspor takes on Rizespor in the Turkish Super Lig.
But if Onuachu is not fully fit by then, Reis mentioned that he could return for the match against Gaziantep FK on Sunday, November 1.
Reis also spoke about the overall fitness of his team. He said, “Mustafa’s return to the field tomorrow will be a little early. If Onuachu cannot be with us in the Rizespor match, he will be with us in the next match.
“We will have a training session after the press conference. We will decide on the starting eleven after this training session.”
Onuachu has been a key player for Trabzonspor this season. He has started in eight out of 11 matches and has scored three goals.
