Russian Player Prepares for Tough Match Against Nigeria

Russian defender Arsen Adamov has called Nigeria a very strong team ahead of their friendly match on October 6. The game will take place at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium during the international break, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

The Super Eagles are set to meet Russia on the pitch. Adamov, who is 26 years old, has faced Nigeria before. He was part of the Russian team that drew 1-1 with Nigeria back in June 2025.

Adamov also mentioned that he expects the game against Iran to be challenging. He said, "This is not the first time we have played Iran and Nigeria, and these are very strong teams."

He added, "There will be interesting matches for us and for the fans. Iran and Nigeria are very strong opponents," according to quotes from the Russian site sports.ru.

During this international break, Russia has three matches lined up. They will play Iran in Kazan on September 29 and face Namibia on October 3 before the game against Nigeria.

Adamov admitted that he does not know much about Namibia but still thinks it will be a tough match. He said, "The only thing is, I do not know anything about Namibia. African teams are strong. I think it will not be easy against them either."

This season, Adamov has played nine times in the Russian Premier League for Akhmat Grozny. He provided an assist in their 4-1 victory over Rostov on August 22.

Nigeria will come into the friendly after playing two qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. Head coach Eric Chelle’s team will host Madagascar on September 25 before heading to Guinea-Bissau on September 29. Chelle has selected different squads for the qualifiers and the match against Russia.
