Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL) is showing its commitment to responsible mining and sustainable growth. They did this by attending the 5th Africa Natural Resources and Energy Investment Summit (AFNIS). The event took place from June 23 to June 25, 2026, at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
The summit was hosted by the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development. It brought together ministers, policymakers, investors, industry leaders, and partners from all over Africa. They discussed how to tap into the continent’s natural resources and boost economic growth.
The theme was “One Africa, One Resource Vision: Forging a Continental Alliance for Sustainable Development.” AFNIS 2026 was a place for important talks about investment, resource management, value addition, energy transition, and the future of mining in Africa.
Panel sessions covered many topics. These included geopolitics and global supply chains, gender and resource governance, energy integration, green skills, and financial planning for Pan-African projects.
SROL returned as a sponsor for AFNIS. They showed their commitment to push forward discussions in the mining industry. SROL supports initiatives that encourage collaboration, investment, and sustainable resource development across Africa. As the operators of Nigeria’s first large-scale commercial gold mine, they have real experience in responsible mining and community development. They have started several initiatives that create economic value and have a lasting effect on communities.
Austin Menegbo, the Country Manager at SROL, represented the company at the summit. He took part in strategic talks with industry players and shared insights from running a large-scale commercial gold mine. He showed how responsible mining can truly help national development goals.
Austin Menegbo said about the company’s role in the conference, “At SROL, responsible mining goes beyond resource extraction. For us, it is about creating shared value for host communities, operating in accordance with international best practices, and building partnerships that support sustainable growth. AFNIS 2026 provides an important platform for advancing these conversations and shaping the future of the industry. Nigeria’s mining sector has a critical role to play in driving economic diversification and sustainable development on the continent.”
As Africa works to unlock its mineral resources, SROL is committed to promoting responsible mining practices. They aim to drive sustainable growth that benefits both the economy and the communities that host them.
