Senator Arise Celebrates Former Ekiti Governor on His 72nd Birthday

All Progressives Congress leader, Senator Ayo Arise, has sent warm wishes to former Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Segun Oni, as he celebrates his 72nd birthday.

In a message shared with journalists in Ado Ekiti on Sunday evening, Arise said, “Beyond politics, Engr. Oni has demonstrated that leadership is about service.”

Arise, who has also served in the National Assembly, added, “Chief Oni is an icon of good governance. His tenure as governor of Ekiti State remains exceptional, unparalleled and clinical. It stands as a reference point for purposeful leadership, infrastructural development and people-centred governance in the history of our dear state.”

“His selfless service and impeccable character deserve to be emulated by Nigerian politicians. He has shown, by example, that politics is a call to service and not an avenue for self-enrichment. He is a gentle, calm, brilliant and articulate man to the core. His demeanour reflects wisdom, while his intellect continues to inspire both the young and old across party lines.

“As he marks this milestone, I pray that Almighty God continues to bless him with good health, strength and more wisdom to keep contributing to the growth and development of Ekiti State and Nigeria at large. Happy 72nd birthday, Your Excellency. Ekiti and Nigeria celebrate you,” Sen. Arise stated.

Oni was Ekiti State governor from 2007 to 2010. His time in office ended after a Court of Appeal decision called for a rerun in some areas due to issues with the 2007 governorship election.

A trained engineer and politician, Oni has stayed active in national and state politics even after leaving office. He has held various roles, including National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party and currently a member of the All Progressives Congress.

His 72nd birthday has drawn messages from political leaders and stakeholders. Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and members of the APC have praised Oni for his contributions to the growth and political development of Ekiti State.
