Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, has marked three years in the Senate by giving out smart devices, including laptops, to some secondary schools in her area.

Her media aide, Mike Idoko, shared this news in a statement from Abuja on Tuesday.

The event took place on Monday, November 2, 2026. The senator visited OCSS Oboroke, Adavi Model Secondary School, Adavi Eba, and Community Secondary School, Obangede. This initiative aims to support digital learning and improve students' access to educational resources.

Akpoti-Uduaghan said this is part of her promise to provide quality representation, improve education, and empower young people.

She stated, "For me, the essence of representation is not simply to occupy an office or make speeches in the chambers of the National Assembly. It is about making a difference in the lives of the people who entrusted us with their mandate."

"Education remains one of the most important investments we can make in the future of our society. These smart devices are not merely computers; they are instruments of opportunity, learning, innovation, and empowerment. I want our children to understand that their geographical location should never limit their access to knowledge or their aspirations in life."

As she celebrated three years in office, she emphasized her awareness of the duty that comes with the mandate given to her. She promised to keep working hard to ensure Kogi Central gets quality representation and meaningful developmental projects.

The senator encouraged the students to use the devices well, embrace digital skills, and stay focused on their studies. She also asked teachers and school leaders to ensure that the devices are well taken care of and used for learning.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, elected to represent Kogi Central in the 10th National Assembly, mentioned that her development efforts span education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, youth empowerment, and economic growth.

In healthcare, she has pushed for the creation of the Federal Medical Centre, Ihima, through Senate Bill 521. This is aimed at improving access to specialist medical services in Kogi Central and nearby areas.

Her other efforts include advocating for better roads, access to clean water, improved school facilities, solar-powered projects, skills training, and support for women and young people.

The senator has also discussed public accountability, social justice, fair resource distribution, and responsive governance.

At Community Secondary School, Obangede, Dr Shehu Sule, the Chairman of the Governing Council, thanked Akpoti-Uduaghan for her support to the school.

In his speech during her visit, Sule praised her work and impact on education and human development. He said, "It is a great pleasure and rare honorary privilege to host not just a distinguished senator but the most popular, most outstanding and most celebrated female office holder in the contemporary Nigerian political space."

"We are therefore deeply blessed to be in your presence and be part of the history you have created through uncommon quality representation, provision of people-oriented projects, immense contribution to human capital development and great strides towards education."

Sule also appreciated the senator for encouraging young people, especially girls, stating that her leadership inspires the younger generation.

He asked for continued partnership between the senator and the school, expressing that the devices would help learning and open up new educational opportunities for students.

He added, "We seek your esteemed indulgence to seize this rare but golden opportunity to present you with an award in recognition of your outstanding leadership, commitment to education, and inspiration to the girl-child and youth in Nigeria."

The school official noted that Akpoti-Uduaghan's influence goes beyond Kogi Central and expressed hope for her future in politics.

The distribution of these devices comes as access to digital tools and tech-based learning becomes more vital in education. Akpoti-Uduaghan stated she will keep pushing for initiatives that improve the social and economic conditions of her constituents.
