Nigeria’s rising tennis star Seun Ogunsakin has won his first qualifying match at the 2026 US Open Junior Tennis Championships, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Aurum Tennis Academy player beat Poland’s Tymon Litwic with scores of 6-3, 6-0 to move to the final round of the qualifiers.

The 14-year-old will now play against Canada’s Felix Roussel in the next qualifying round.

Ogunsakin is competing in his third Grand Slam event in a row. His journey started at the Roland Garros Junior Championships, followed by the Wimbledon Juniors.

This year, he made it to the main draw of the boys’ singles at Wimbledon. He also reached the semi-finals in doubles, marking a historic performance in the UK.

The US Open Junior Championships has 64 players in both the boys’ and girls’ singles draws. There are also 32 teams in the boys’ and girls’ doubles events.

In the singles qualifying tournaments, 32 players compete for six spots in the main draws of the junior singles events.

The main draw for the 2026 US Open Junior Championships will run from Sunday, September 6 to Saturday, September 12.
