The Super Falcons camp in Ikenne, Ogun State, is buzzing as 11 players joined the team by Tuesday evening. This is ahead of their two friendly matches against Senegal.
Among the first to arrive on Monday were six-time African Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala, Serie A Women’s Best Defender Shukurat Oladipo, and Kafayat Shittu from Turkey. Eight more players came into camp on Tuesday.
The players who joined on Tuesday include Nottingham Forest Women striker Joy Omewa, Galatasaray defender Tosin Demehin, midfielder Toni Payne, Blessing Nkor, Folashade Ijamilusi from China, goalkeeper Anderline Mgbechi, experienced midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene, and Roma striker Omorinsola Babajide.
Head coach Justine Madugu has called up 23 players for these friendlies. The matches will help the team prepare for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. This tournament runs from July 25 to August 16.
The Super Falcons, who have won the African title 10 times, will meet Egypt, Zambia, and first-timers Malawi in Group C.
Before the tournament, the Super Falcons will face Senegal on Friday, June 5. They will play a second match against Senegal on Monday, June 8. Both matches will happen at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne-Remo.
More players are expected to arrive in camp as the team gears up for these two friendly matches.
