Suspected Informant Arrested in Sokoto

Security agents have arrested a man suspected of giving information to bandits in the Romo area of Tambuwal Local Government Area in Sokoto State.

The suspect, named Ashiru Abubakar from Gumfa Gebe village in Wamakko Local Government Area, was said to be working with criminals in Tambuwal.

Abubakar was reportedly connected to a threat made to Romo residents. They were told to pay N10 million or face an attack.

This arrest occurs as security fears grow in Tambuwal and nearby areas, where residents have protested against recent attacks and kidnappings.

On Wednesday, DSP Ahmed Rufai, the Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest. He told our correspondent that the suspect has been taken to court.

Rufai mentioned that the arrest followed investigations into Abubakar’s activities and his links to criminals.

He also said that the police will keep taking action against anyone suspected of helping criminal activities in the state.

Residents from the affected communities are asking for more security and better intelligence operations. They want to stop further attacks and help displaced residents return home.
