Super Eagles defender Benjamin Tanimu has said he will not return to the Nigeria Premier Football League right now. He left Moroccan club Maghreb de Fès and believes he still has work to do abroad. He faced tough times in the last two years, but he wants to continue his career overseas.
According to Footy-Africa, the 23-year-old mentioned that it is too soon to think about moving back to Nigeria. He prefers to keep playing in foreign leagues. Clubs from the United Arab Emirates are reportedly keeping an eye on him as the transfer window approaches.
Tanimu ended his contract with Maghreb de Fès by mutual agreement. He had a hard time in North Africa. He said he felt a lack of trust from the coaching staff and did not get enough playing time, which led him to decide to leave.
This setback came after a difficult time in England. Tanimu played 10 matches for Crawley Town in League One but could not secure a regular starting spot. Before joining Crawley, he was with Tanzanian club Singida Black Stars. These inconsistent experiences have affected his international career, causing him to lose his place in the Super Eagles after earning three caps for Nigeria.
Despite these challenges, Tanimu still has a good reputation. He played an important role in helping Bendel Insurance win the Nigerian FA Cup, which attracted interest from foreign clubs.
Now that he is a free agent, Tanimu is taking his time to look at his options. He wants to find a place where he can have stability and regular playing time as he aims to revive his dreams of playing for the national team again.
