TECNO's CAMON Slim: A New Take on Smartphones?

At IFA 2026 in Berlin, TECNO is showing off the CAMON Slim. This smartphone is just 6.39 mm thick and has a 3D-curved unibody design. It features a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 Ultra Night Camera, useful AI features, and an AI mood lighting system.

The big question is if being slim can be more than just a design trend. For many years, smartphone improvements have been all about specifications. More megapixels. More battery life. More processing power.

TECNO is also showing a Next-Gen Bezel-less Concept Phone. This prototype has a 0mm visible display border, which is a first in the industry. This concept is different from the CAMON Slim, but it shows TECNO's broader idea: some of the phone's usual physical features might still be redesigned.

The bezel-less concept aims to eliminate the last visible black border around a smartphone screen through new engineering and display techniques.

Both ideas suggest that the future of smartphones may focus more on improving what we already have instead of just adding more. This could lead to thinner designs, clearer displays, and better balance between style and function.

Of course, a concept is not the same as a product that you can buy. TECNO’s next-gen bezel-less concept phone is still being tested, with no timeline for when it will be available.

But the CAMON Slim is ready for the market. This is an important difference. It means TECNO is not just talking about the future but is also trying to bring part of that design talk to a phone for everyday users.
