The three suspects linked to the murder of former Ogun State Television broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku and her guard Pelumi Adetayo will appear in a Magistrate Court in Abeokuta on Monday.

Babaseyi Oluseyi, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed this to PUNCH Online. He said, "The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform members of the media that the three suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Madam Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard will be arraigned today, Monday, July 6, 2026, at Magistrate Court 3, Isabo, Abeokuta, by 11:30 am."

This arraignment comes less than two weeks after the police announced the suspects' arrest for the killings of Oyesiku and Adetayo at her home in Abeokuta.

PUNCH Online reported earlier that the police started investigating after residents alerted them about strange activities at the deceased's home.

Detectives who went to the scene found signs of forced entry. Adetayo's body was located at his security post, while Oyesiku's body was discovered later inside the house. Her missing Lexus RX330 was eventually recovered during the investigation.

At a press briefing, Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni shared that investigators made a significant breakthrough after finding a note inside the stolen vehicle. This note was analyzed for forensic evidence, which led to the arrest of the main suspect.

The Commissioner stated that the main suspect, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, 22, was arrested on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara, Abeokuta, where he was working.

Further investigations led to the arrests of two other suspects, Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, who is a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, a bricklayer.

Ojajuni mentioned that Philip allegedly confessed to planning the attack due to issues he had with Oyesiku while working as her guard. He claimed the murder was meant to "teach her a lesson."

The police said the suspects overpowered Adetayo to gain access to Oyesiku's house, where both victims were killed.

The stolen Lexus RX330 was later found through intelligence and tracking operations in the Onikolobo area of Ogun State.

The police also found evidence, including a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank, and a black pen, at locations tied to the suspects.

The command assured that even though the suspects made useful statements and substantial evidence was collected, they still have rights to due process. The investigation will continue to ensure that everyone involved in the crime is prosecuted properly.
