The Ogun State Police Command has announced plans to take three suspects to the Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court. They are charged with blocking police officers and attacking them while they were doing their jobs.
This information came from a statement signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, on Friday. He mentioned that the charges follow an investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni.
The suspects are Alaba Mulika, 51; Alawode Iyanu, 21; and Temitope Saliu, 29.
According to the police, the incident happened on 29th September 2026. A police team led by ASP Akeredolu Emmanuel stopped an unregistered Toyota Camry on Fibigbade Street, Ago-Iwoye. While they were taking the car to the station, a Toyota Highlander with registration number JJJ 215 JV blocked their way on Abobi Street.
A fight broke out. During this confrontation, INSPR Abolarinwa Wasiu and CPL Olubamiro Adeniyi were reportedly attacked. Videos of the incident later spread on social media and were part of the evidence looked at during the investigation.
After the Commissioner of Police gave the order, detectives looked into what happened. They went to the scene and arrested the suspects. They will face five charges. These include conspiracy, blocking police officers, serious assault on police officers, and behavior likely to cause trouble.
The Commissioner of Police emphasized that "the safety and protection of police officers performing lawful duties remain a priority of the Command." He urged the public to make complaints through proper channels and to avoid fighting with police officers.
