The Ogun State Police Command has announced that three suspects will appear in the Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court on Friday. They are facing charges for allegedly assaulting police officers and blocking them while they were doing their jobs.

The suspects are 51-year-old Alaba Mulika, 21-year-old Alawode Iyanu, and 29-year-old Temitope Saliu.

This information came from a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi. He said the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, ordered an investigation into the matter.

“The Ogun State Police Command will today charge three suspects before the Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court following an investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, into an incident involving the alleged obstruction and serious assault of police officers performing their lawful duties,” the statement said.

The incident took place on September 29, 2026. A police team led by ASP Akeredolu Emmanuel stopped an unregistered Toyota Camry on Fibigbade Street, Ago-Iwoye.

According to the police, “While the vehicle was being conveyed to the station, a Toyota Highlander, registration number JJJ 215 JV, allegedly blocked its movement at Abobi Street.”

“A physical confrontation allegedly followed, during which INSPR Abolarinwa Wasiu and CPL Olubamiro Adeniyi were allegedly assaulted,” the statement added.

The command noted that video clips of the incident, which later spread on social media, were part of the evidence reviewed during the investigation.

Following the Commissioner of Police's order, detectives looked into the details of the incident, went to the scene, and arrested the three suspects.

Babaseyi explained, “They will be charged on five counts bordering on conspiracy, obstruction of police officers, alleged serious assault on police officers and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.”

The statement emphasized the command's stance on the matter. “The Commissioner of Police reiterates that the safety and protection of police officers performing lawful duties remain a priority of the Command.”

The police also called on the public to use proper channels when making complaints.

“Members of the public are encouraged to channel complaints through lawful mechanisms and avoid physical confrontation with police personnel,” the statement advised.

Babaseyi concluded, “Further updates will be communicated as developments warrant.”
