The Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo Toyota Golf Tournament is back to boost women's participation in sports. It kicks off at Smokin Hills Golf Resort in Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, on November 13 and 14.
Toyota Nigeria Limited, which organizes the event, announced the dates for the 2026 edition. The tournament is set to attract golf lovers and business leaders from all over Nigeria. The annual competition returns to the resort’s beautiful greens, promising a great experience for players and spectators.
This tournament pays tribute to the late Chief (Mrs) Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo. She was respected for her strong values, integrity, and dedication to encouraging women in sports.
Mr Kunle Ade-Ojo, the Managing Director of TNL, said the event goes beyond just sports. “The Elizabeth Wuraola Ojo Toyota Golf Tournament is more than a sporting event. It is a celebration of legacy, integrity, and enduring values. This year’s edition promises an unforgettable experience for all participants and guests,” he stated.
The tournament will use a shotgun start format. This means golfers will start playing at the same time from different holes. Professional golfers from around the country will begin on Friday, November 13, at 7am, tackling the challenging Smokin Hills course. Amateur male and female golfers will follow on Saturday, November 14, also at 7am, to show off their skills.
The competition will wrap up that evening with a gala night and prize presentation. Winners and special guests will be celebrated during this event.
A prize of ₦10m is set aside for any golfer who scores a hole-in-one. TNL says this shows their commitment to rewarding top performances in sports.
The gala will feature the presentation of the “Amiable Woman of the Tournament” award. This award honors Ojo's memory and aims to encourage more women to participate in golf.
“This award is symbolic of the values she stood for and serves to encourage more women to participate in and contribute to the game of golf,” Ade-Ojo said. He promised guests an exciting lineup of rewards and activities over the weekend.
Outside of the golf games, TNL will showcase its latest vehicle models at the resort. Attendees will get a close look at the brand’s technology and craftsmanship.
This tournament has become a regular event on Nigeria’s sports calendar. It continues to set standards for corporate sports sponsorship, blending athletic excellence, legacy, and high-level networking.
