Spanish football club CD Tenerife has announced the death of their striker, Jesus de Miguel Alameda. He died after a collision with the opposing goalkeeper during a match against FC Andorra.

The club shared the sad news in a statement on Tuesday. They expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the 30-year-old forward.

CD Tenerife said the player passed away at 8am local time. They called it a tragedy that left the club, his family, and fans in shock and sadness.

"Broken in pain, with a knot in the throat and unable to believe this is true, from the CD Tenerife we communicate the tragic death, this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00 hours, of Jesus de Miguel Alameda," the statement said.

The club added, "There are no words of comfort; there is absolutely nothing to mitigate this feeling of sorrow. We are together with his heartbroken family, together with his loved ones, together with all the Tinerfenism that today cries for this cruel outcome."

De Miguel’s family thanked everyone for the support they received since the incident. They also asked for privacy as they mourn their loss.

The 30-year-old suffered his injury during Tenerife’s Spanish second-division match against FC Andorra on Monday at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium.

The incident happened late in the game when De Miguel collided with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono. Both players were trying to get to a loose ball.

After the impact, the striker fell unconscious, and players from both teams called for medical help immediately.

Owono received a straight red card after the collision.

Medical staff provided care to De Miguel on the field before he was taken to Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria by ambulance.

Reports say he had a cardiac arrest during the emergency transfer but got his pulse back thanks to the medical team.

He remained unconscious and was moved to the intensive care unit.

Earlier, Tenerife announced that his neurological condition had worsened before sadly confirming his death hours later.

The match was abandoned in the 108th minute, with both teams tied at 2-2 after the incident.
