Troops of Operation Fasan Yamma have rescued six kidnap victims who managed to escape after intense military action in Zamfara State.

This information comes from a military report shared with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday.

The report mentioned that the victims were found by troops of the 1 Brigade Combat Team 6, stationed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gwashi in Bukuyyum Local Government Area.

The rescue happened on Friday along the Gwashi-Bukuyyum road, after the victims fled from their captors.

They escaped following an air operation carried out by the Nigerian Air Force near Bagega Forest.

According to the report, the rescued victims were identified as Muhammad Sani from Masama, Junaidu Muhammad from Gandun Malam, Abubakar Abdullahi, and Abubakar Barau from Maibaka.

The others are Surajo Abubakar from Dogon Daji and Nasiru Hakilu from Adabka village, all from Bukuyyum Local Government Area in Zamfara.

The report noted that the victims had been held for several months before they regained their freedom.

It also mentioned that efforts are ongoing to get them back to their families and provide the help they need.

This rescue comes as military operations against terrorist groups have intensified in forests and remote areas in the North-west.

Military officials have promised to keep up the pressure on these criminals until every kidnapped person is freed and communities are safe.
