The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has caught two men suspected of stealing cars at Ladanai Junction, along the Eastern Bypass in Kano.
The State Commandant, Mohammed Agalama, shared the news during a press conference at the command’s headquarters on Friday.
"The NSCDC Kano State Command wants the public to know about the arrest of two suspected car thieves during a routine patrol by our operatives at Ladanai Junction, along the Eastern Bypass, Kano," he said.
He identified the suspects as Abdullahi Sani, 61, and Abdullahi Suleiman, 63. They are from Kurna Tudun Bojuwa and Kantudu, Dala Local Government Area. The officers caught them while they were on duty in the area.
Agalama mentioned that they recovered a suspected stolen red Toyota Carina II Wagon, with the registration number LFA 417 AA from Nasarawa.
"They were driving the vehicle out of the Ladanai area around 2:10 am when our personnel on duty intercepted and caught them. The car was reported stolen three days ago," he explained.
The suspects are now in custody and going through a preliminary investigation to find out more about the vehicle theft.
Agalama stated that the suspects will face charges once the investigation is complete.
He praised the vigilance and professionalism of the operatives for their quick action. He pointed out that these arrests highlight the need for regular patrols and smart operations to fight crime in the state.
He assured the people of Kano that the command will keep working with other security agencies and the public to protect lives and property.
"We urge the public to stay alert and quickly report any suspicious activities to security agencies," he said.
