Super Falcons midfielder Christy Ucheibe is getting more attention for her great start at Al-Hilal. Her first goal for the Saudi club is nominated for the Saudi Women’s Premier League Goal of the Week award, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Ucheibe made an impact in her third league game for Al-Hilal. She scored the first goal in their 6-0 win against Al-Taraji.
The Nigerian player headed the ball into the net early in the match. This goal helped Al-Hilal to a strong victory.
This goal is Ucheibe’s first since joining the Saudi team. It marks a great start to her career in the league, as she quickly became a regular starter.
Her goal is now on the shortlist for the Goal of the Week award. This nomination is another recognition for the Super Falcons star just weeks after her move to Saudi Arabia.
The nomination helps boost Ucheibe’s profile at Al-Hilal. She has been a key player since she joined from Portuguese champions Benfica this summer.
The 25-year-old signed a two-year contract with Al-Hilal. This deal will keep her at the club until 2028. She spent six years at Benfica, making 91 appearances and winning several local trophies.
Before moving to Portugal, Ucheibe played for Assi IF in Sweden and Nasarawa Amazons in Nigeria. She can play both as a midfielder and a centre-back.
On the international stage, Ucheibe made her Super Falcons debut in 2022. She has earned 32 caps and scored three goals. She was also part of the Nigerian team that won the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Joining Al-Hilal also brought her back together with fellow Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala. Oshoala has been with the Saudi club since leaving American side Bay FC.
