The sister of Adebayo Adelabu, a former Minister of Power and a governorship aspirant for the All Progressive Congress in Oyo State, and her twin children have been kidnapped in Ibadan.

This happened on Wednesday in the Challenge area of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area.

A video going around on social media shows a red car with its doors wide open and damage visible on the body.

The glass on the driver's side was broken, and pieces were spread on the ground.

A crowd of people, including men and women in casual clothes, gathered around the car, pointing and looking inside and outside.

A worried woman in the video was heard saying that the victim is the younger sister of “Penkelemesi,” which is Adelabu’s well-known nickname.

Another man’s voice in the video said, “She is the last-born (of the family) of Bayo Adelabu, Penkele.”

PUNCH Online reported earlier that Femi Awogboro, one of the former minister’s media aides, confirmed the kidnapping.

He said, “Adelabu’s younger sister, together with her twins (Peter and Paul), were kidnapped this morning (Wednesday) by unknown gunmen at Elewura, Challenge, Ibadan.

“The family members were going out this morning from Elewura to link the expressway when they were attacked and taken away by the unknown kidnappers.”

In response, Olayinka Ayanlade, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, said, “I cannot independently verify this for now, but please hold on.”

This incident comes weeks after over 40 teachers and students were reportedly kidnapped on Friday, May 15, 2026, during a planned attack in the Ahoro-Esiele area of Oriire Local Government Area.

It is also worth mentioning that an APC leader in the state, Wale Oriade, was kidnapped by armed men in Ibadan, the state capital, in December 2025.
