The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has backed the growing political alliance supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Wike shared this during a media chat in Abuja on Tuesday. He rejected claims of any internal crisis within the coalition.

He called the alliance a movement that includes members from the All Progressives Congress, All Progressives Grand Alliance, Peoples Democratic Party, and other political groups supporting Tinubu.

Wike stressed that supporting the presidency is more important than party lines. He will lead Tinubu’s re-election campaign in the FCT and Rivers State, even though he is in the PDP.

Mr Wike pointed out key figures who are part of this coalition in different states. He mentioned Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State, who is from APGA and is actively campaigning for Tinubu in his state.

Wike also noted that in Osun, Governor Ademola Adeleke from the PDP is backing the president while still upholding his party’s identity at the local level.

Responding to critics who see a conflict in political leaders supporting one candidate while running under another party, Wike said this problem does not exist.

“Why would anybody say there is a problem there? Take Soludo, he is supporting Mr. President, but that does not mean his party will not field candidates for the House of Representatives or state assembly.

“It tells you leadership capacity. If you speak to your people and they listen, that is political strength,” Wike explained.

Wike also addressed opposition figures and governors who have recognized the president’s achievements. He highlighted Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State for praising the national infrastructure and governance, despite being from an opposition party.

He encouraged politicians to prioritize national progress over party loyalty.

“Time has come, not because of your political party, to just say the chief manager of the country has done nothing for the sake of politics. Politics must be a do-or-die affair.

“For us, whether anybody likes it or not, Mr. President has done well,” he stated.

Earlier on Tuesday, Wike, Soludo, and Adeleke were named members of the APC Presidential Campaign Council. They will help coordinate Tinubu’s re-election efforts in their respective states, despite their party affiliations.
