Woman killed after falling off motorcycle in Ogun State

A woman, whose identity is not yet known, has died after being hit by a truck. This happened after she fell off a motorcycle on the Agbara-Lusada Expressway in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.

An eyewitness, who goes by Kunle, told PUNCH Metro that the incident took place around 7pm on Saturday at Cashier Bus Stop along the highway. He explained that the crash happened when the motorcycle tried to overtake the truck.

Kunle said, "The accident involved a woman who was a passenger on a motorcycle. The motorcycle tried to overtake the truck, and in the process, the passenger, who was a woman, fell and was crushed by the truck."

Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, confirmed the incident during a phone call on Sunday. He reported that a white Howo truck with registration number T-34611LA and two motorcycles without displayed registration numbers were involved in the crash.

Akinbiyi mentioned that witnesses said the accident happened because one of the motorcycle riders tried to overtake incorrectly. This caused the female passenger to fall under the truck.

He said, "The RTA/RTC was caused by wrong overtaking on the part of the Okada rider, which led one of the Okada passengers to fall under the truck, which claimed her life."

According to Akinbiyi, there were five people involved in the accident. This included three men and two women. Two people, one man and one woman, suffered injuries in the crash.

He added that a good Samaritan took the injured victims to a hospital before TRACE operatives arrived at the scene. The family of the deceased has taken her remains away, while the truck was taken into police custody for further investigation.

Akinbiyi also mentioned that TRACE operatives and PAPA OSCAR responders were on the ground to help with the situation and to clear the traffic on the expressway.
