Barcelona player Lamine Yamal is looking forward to facing Real Madrid in El Clásico. He sees this match as something special for players from La Masia.
In an interview with Movistar on Friday, Yamal said, “I want to face Real Madrid in El Clásico. I’d really love that.”
The 19-year-old explained that players who come from Barcelona's academy learn about the rivalry from a young age.
“If you come from La Masia, you know El Clásico feels like a battle,” Yamal said.
Experience at El Clásico
Yamal shared a memory of watching Marcus Rashford play in his first Clásico. He believes Rashford did not fully grasp how intense the match was at first.
“I remember I watched Rashford play on his first Clásico and thought to myself that he does NOT yet know what this game means,” he said.
Yamal noted that Rashford's understanding changed in the second match. Rashford played with more intensity and scored from a free kick.
“Then in the return leg, he truly understood what a Clásico means, when he scored a goal from a free kick and played with a different intensity.”
The Importance of Clásico
Yamal added, “When you come from La Masia, from your very first Clásico, you already know what this match means.”
His words show how much he values the rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid. He is eager to have another chance to play against the Spanish giants.
