2027: PRP leader calls on opposition candidates to share their plans

A leader of the People’s Redemption Party, Yakubu Kingsley, has urged opposition candidates for the 2027 presidential election to explain to Nigerians what they plan to do differently if they win.

Kingsley made this statement on Sunday. He said Nigerians have the right to know the plans, resources needed, and expected outcomes of the candidates’ policies.

He believes political campaigns should focus on real policies, programs, and solutions instead of personal attacks and the quest for power.

“As Nigeria gears up for the 2027 general elections, I think the presidential campaign should focus on Nigeria's future. There should be more emphasis on ideas, policies, programs, and practical solutions, rather than personal attacks and political games,” he said.

He mentioned that just removing an incumbent president should not be seen as a national development plan. He urged candidates to clarify why Nigerians should support their alternatives.

“A presidential election should give citizens a chance to look at different ideas, policies, programs, and plans for implementation.

“Candidates need to tell Nigerians not just what they are against, but what they will build and how they plan to achieve it,” he added.

Kingsley asked presidential candidates to provide detailed plans that would help voters assess their ideas beyond empty promises.

“The questions every candidate faces are simple: What are you offering Nigerians that is new?

“What are your plans for implementation and monitoring? What resources will you need? And what are the expected outcomes and timelines?

“The answers to these questions will shape the discussion around the 2027 presidential election,” he said.

He called on political parties, candidates, supporters, and the media to focus the 2027 election debate on policies, real solutions, and different approaches to national development.

“The 2027 election should not just be a battle over who should leave office or who should take over.

“It should be a serious national discussion about what Nigeria should become, how we will achieve that, and what each candidate is ready to do differently.

“The Nigerian people need to hear the plans, look at the options, understand how those options will be carried out, and ultimately, see the results,” he concluded.
