Troops from Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 41 travellers. They were ambushed by armed men after their commercial vehicle broke down in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, according to the military.
The vehicle was coming from Senegal to Kano State when it had a mechanical fault. This left the passengers stranded on the highway.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA said armed men saw this as an opportunity. They tried to take the passengers away from the broken vehicle.
The military reported that Sector 2 troops moved to the location after getting information about the attack. They engaged the attackers, which made them run away into nearby farms.
