A Federal High Court in Lagos has sent actress Doris Ogala to Kirikiri Correctional Centre. This decision came on Wednesday as the court prepares to hear her bail application. She faces charges of cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and attempted extortion of Pastor Chris Okafor.

Ogala was brought before Justice Akintayo Aluko on three counts. These charges are based on claims that she published intimate photographs, spread false electronic messages, and made threats against the pastor. The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation is prosecuting her case.

Prosecution lawyer Tolulope Mokolu told the court that Ogala committed these offences between September 2024 and March 2026. Mokolu claimed that she knowingly shared nude and intimate pictures of Okafor on her social media without his permission.

The lawyer argued that these actions could cause annoyance, embarrassment, and emotional distress to the pastor. Mokolu added that the images were widely shared across social media platforms.

He accused Ogala of spreading videos, recordings, and electronic messages containing false information. The aim was to bully, threaten, intimidate, and harass Okafor. The prosecution also said that Ogala sent electronic messages threatening to release more embarrassing material about the pastor unless he paid her or bought her a house.

Mokolu explained that she made these threats to damage Okafor’s reputation and expose him to public shame. He pointed out that her actions broke Sections 24(1)(a), 24(2)(a), and 24(2)(c) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act, 2024.

Ogala pleaded not guilty to all the charges when they were read to her. After her plea, Mokolu asked the court to set a trial date and keep her in custody until the case is resolved.

He also mentioned that he received Ogala’s bail application only on Wednesday. He needed time to review it and prepare a response. The defence lawyer, N. C. Atulomah, opposed the request to keep Ogala in custody. He said it was up to the court to decide on bail.

Atulomah urged the court to release Ogala, noting that she is a governorship candidate for a political party in Abia State. He promised to ensure she appears in court for the next hearing.

The prosecutor countered this claim, stating he was still within the time frame to respond to the bail application. After considering both sides, Justice Aluko ruled that the defence did not provide enough reasons for Ogala’s release.

The judge did, however, order an expedited hearing of the bail application. The case has been postponed until October 30, 2026, when the bail application will be heard. Ogala will remain at Kirikiri Correctional Centre until then.
