African teams had a mixed start at the FIFA World Cup after the first round of matches. They let in 16 goals and scored seven in 10 games.

The first round brought different results for the continent's teams. Some had great wins, others fought hard for draws, and a few faced heavy losses.

The biggest blow was Tunisia's 5-1 loss to Sweden. Senegal also lost 3-1 to France. South Africa fell 2-0 to Mexico, and Algeria lost 3-0 to Argentina in other tough matches.

On the bright side, Ivory Coast managed a 1-0 win over Ecuador. Ghana also secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Panama.

Morocco held Brazil to a 1-1 draw. Egypt matched Belgium with the same score, while Cape Verde kept Spain at bay in a goalless draw. DR Congo also drew 1-1 against Portugal.

In total, the 10 African teams had two wins, three draws, and five losses. This shows a mixed but competitive start for the continent.

Now, all eyes are on the second round of group matches. Action is already heating up with South Africa facing Czechia in Group A on Thursday. This match is crucial for their hopes of qualification.
