Nollywood's faith-based movie, Agbara Nla: The Return, has made over N170.6m in its first four days in cinemas. This was announced by the film distributor, Nile Group, on Monday.
The distributor called this achievement a big deal for the film. Nile Group said, "The revival is here. The power is moving. Agbara Nla: The Return opened with N170.6m+. It can only be God."
Nile Group also expressed gratitude to the audiences for their support. They noted that the film had packed cinemas and sold-out shows. They added, "Thank you, everyone, for the packed cinemas, SOLD-OUT shows and incredible love."
The distributor said the success goes beyond just money. They described the film as a chance for viewers to see “a revival of faith, power and transformation on the big screen.”
Nile Group shared that the film hit three major records. These include the biggest non-December Nollywood opening weekend ever, the biggest October opening weekend, and the biggest opening weekend for a faith-based film.
Agbara Nla: The Return is currently showing in cinemas across the country. Before its official release, the film made about N71m from single-day preview screenings.
PUNCH Online reported that, according to Nigerian Box Office (@NGAboxoffice), the film earned N70m from 12,134 ticket sales during its preview period from September 25 to October 1.
This was noted as the biggest single-day preview gross ever in West Africa. The report also shared that the 12,134 admissions were the highest first-day admissions figure recorded in 2026. The N70m gross was also the largest first-day income for a Nollywood film.
The film had the biggest single-day gross for October, according to the same report. Despite facing competition, Agbara Nla: The Return’s N170.6m opening weekend ranks it just behind Everybody Loves Jenifa and Behind the Scene.
The film’s opening weekend also placed it ahead of A Tribe Called Judah and Love and New Notes on that list. This latest achievement adds to the film’s impressive performance during its preview period, following the N70m gross from 12,134 admissions before its official cinema release.
