The Nigerian faith-based film, Agbara Nla: The Return, will hit selected cinemas in the United States on Friday, October 30. This comes after the film made about $173,650 overseas, including earnings from the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Canada.

The film's distributor, Nile Group, shared the news on Instagram on Tuesday. They encouraged movie lovers to book their tickets through AMC Theatres and Regal Cinemas.

This announcement arrives while the distributors are celebrating the film's strong performance in the UK and Canada. They also revealed plans to release the film in Ireland soon.

“AGBARA NLA THE RETURN is officially opening in select U.S. cinemas from this Friday, OCTOBER 30th,” the distributor stated.

On Thursday, Nile Group shared that the film earned £86,691 in the UK and Ireland and CAD$82,203 in Canada. This puts the total international earnings at $173,650 and still counting.

The company also mentioned that this film has the biggest opening weekend ever for a Nollywood film in the UK. It is also the largest Nollywood release in the country for 2026.

They added that the film had the highest pre-sales in the UK for any Nollywood film and the biggest opening for a faith-based Nollywood film there.

Nile Group confirmed that Agbara Nla: The Return is still showing in cinemas across the UK and Canada. They also announced its upcoming release in Ireland through Odeon Cinemas.

The US release is another step in expanding the film's reach. It revisits the story of the 1993 film Agbara Nla, created by Christian filmmaker Mike Bamiloye.

This new version features Bamiloye returning as the herbalist Isawuru. Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Joshua Bamiloye, his sons, directed the film. The cast includes Aanu Kolade Abiodun, Remilekun Mosiko, Philip Olubakin, Gloria Mike-Bamiloye, and David Kola Okeowo.

Agbara Nla: The Return has made ₦408.3 million at the Nigerian box office. This makes it the second-highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2026, according to figures released by the distributor Nile Entertainment on Monday.

The film has also held the number-one spot at the Nigerian box office for four weekends in a row.
