Akanbi Elizabeth, the wife of late gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, known as Toluwanisings, was emotional as she remembered her husband at a memorial event in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a video from the event at Jogor Centre on Tuesday, she struggled to finish her tribute before breaking down in tears.

“Toluwanisings, my dear husband. I will forever miss you. Please do not forget your children and I,” she said.

Many gospel musicians came to pay their respects. This included Adeyinka Alaseyori, Esther Igbekele, Laolu Gbenjo, Akintayo Akinwande, SB Live, Bidemi Olaoba, Mr Gbera, Peterson Okopi, and Sarah Apekeola.

Actress Bimbo Oshin was also there among the celebrities.

Toluwanisings passed away in Ibadan on October 14, 2026, after reportedly collapsing. His death has raised questions about issues in getting emergency medical care, family disputes over burial plans, and calls for an investigation into how he died.

After the singer's death, his personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo, claimed that attempts to get emergency care took him to several hospitals in Ibadan.

He said the singer was taken to about seven or eight hospitals after he collapsed, but those with him found it hard to get him the medical help he needed.

These claims have worried the public about access to emergency medical care and the events surrounding his death.

Meanwhile, the University College Hospital in Ibadan stated they have no record of the singer being brought to their facility.

Another issue came up when the singer’s father, Muniru Adekunle Olayemi, spoke about a disagreement with his daughter-in-law regarding where his son should be buried.

Olayemi said he wanted his son buried in a house he built or taken to Ikirun, Osun State, where his late mother was buried.

He mentioned that he reached out to the widow after hearing about his son's passing to discuss burial plans. He said she preferred a cemetery or church burial ground, while he wanted his son buried at home.

The father claimed that the widow was not comfortable with the idea of living in a house where her husband was buried.

He later suggested that the singer’s body be taken to Ikirun and buried next to his mother.

“If they won’t allow him to be buried inside his house, they should bring him down to the village where his mother is and bury him beside her,” he said.

The widow has not shared her side of the disagreement publicly. Her reasons for reportedly opposing a home burial have not been confirmed.

A man who said he was the singer’s uncle, Lawal Ademola, also talked about the dispute, saying the family wanted Toluwanisings buried at his home in Ibadan.

The argument has sparked mixed reactions online. Some people questioned the idea of burying someone in a residential area, while others supported the family’s wish to have the singer buried at home.

The disagreement over the burial is happening as the singer’s family has called for an investigation into his death.

In an interview with media personality Dunmininu, shared on social media, Ademola asked the government, community leaders, and law enforcement to look into how the singer died.

“Please help us, our elders, as we seek a proper investigation into the death of Sodiq. You who are the government, our leaders, and the law, please enforce the law and empower the investigation so that there won’t be biased judgments or victimisation.

“Nobody should interfere or try to cover things up regarding Sodiq, because this has deeply affected us,” he said.

The uncle also requested that the planned burial be paused until the facts about the death are clear.

The family’s stance has complicated this issue, as they want answers about the singer’s death while disagreeing with the burial plans.

The singer’s grandmother, Sabitiyu Olayemi, also claimed he neglected her for years, adding to the family problems that surfaced after his death.
