The Super Eagles are facing another injury worry before their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Tanzania. Defender Semi Ajayi got injured during Hull City's 1-0 loss to Arsenal on Saturday.
Ajayi, who played well and kept Arsenal at bay, fell down while holding his left leg. He was subbed off in the 69th minute for Australian defender Lucas Herrington.
Just three minutes later, Arsenal's captain Martin Odegaard scored the only goal of the match. He was quick to react to a rebound after Noni Madueke's shot was saved by Konstantinos Tzolakis.
This loss puts Arsenal at 27 points, six points ahead of Manchester City, who are set to play Nottingham Forest later on Saturday. Hull City is sitting in 13th place with 11 points from 10 matches. They have not won in their last nine matches across all competitions, recording four losses and five draws. Their next match is against Brighton on November 22 after the international break.
Ajayi is part of coach Chelle’s 24-man squad for the matches against Tanzania on November 13 and 17. The Super Eagles are already missing Victor Osimhen, who is recovering from knee surgery, and Samuel Chukwueze, who had hip surgery in London.
Nigeria is now waiting for news on Ajayi's injury status.
