Law Mefor, Anambra commissioner for information and value reorientation, says the state is ready to welcome Nigeria's First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for her working visit.
Mr Mefor shared this news on Tuesday. He mentioned that the visit aims to strengthen ties between Anambra and the federal government. They want to tackle poverty, food insecurity, and youth unemployment together.
He made this announcement in a statement ahead of Mrs Tinubu’s visit, which is set for Thursday.
The visit will include launching the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-east. It will also see the opening of an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.
Mr Mefor explained that the food bank, part of the Renewed Hope Initiative, will help vulnerable groups. This includes children, nursing mothers, widows, elderly people, and those living with disabilities.
He added that the ICT centre will give students digital skills. It will also support the state government’s efforts in technology and innovation.
The commissioner mentioned that communities, market women, youth groups, students, and traditional institutions have been mobilised to welcome the First Lady.
He said the visit shows the commitment of both the federal government and the Anambra State Government. They aim to improve lives and create opportunities for vulnerable residents.
