Britain's Anthony Joshua spoke at a press conference in London on June 1, 2026. He is getting ready for a boxing match against Albania's Kristian Prenga in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on July 25. This fight is key as he has his eyes on a big match against Tyson Fury later on.
Joshua shared with Sky Sports that he feels stronger both mentally and physically. He said boxing has given him new motivation after losing two friends in a car crash in Nigeria late last year.
“I feel solid. This is where I want to be. I’m very grateful for this opportunity. It’s nice doing what I love,” Joshua said.
He believes he is becoming stronger than ever. “I’m building myself up to be stronger than I’ve ever been, not only physically, because that’s natural, but mentally. I’ve realised I’m a lot stronger than I ever thought I was,” he stated.
The 35-year-old has not been in the ring since December 2025. He warned fans not to take too much from the signed deal for the Fury fight. He said only winning will truly satisfy him.
“I’m not pleased because the pleasure really comes after victory. Signing a contract doesn’t mean anything. Winning is the only true success,” he said.
As he looks ahead to what could be a big year, Joshua said, “I’ve got a clear goal, I know what this year is about, I know how tough this year is going to be. I’ve been training hard, that’s my life.”
Meanwhile, Tyson Fury is planning a warm-up fight on August 1 in Dublin. This is before their anticipated clash in November.
