The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State has suspended Usman Ibrahim, who represents the Auyo/Hadejia/Kafin-Hausa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Ahmad Garba, the state APC chairperson, announced this decision in a statement to journalists on Monday.
He mentioned that the lawmaker and some constituency executive members were involved in actions that went against the party’s authority.
The statement said,
"We received a formal complaint and reports from loyal party members about your involvement in anti-party activities and behavior harmful to the unity, peace, stability, and progress of the Party.
"The allegations come from events on 26 May 2026 in Auyo Town, Auyo Local Government Area of Jigawa State, where you were accused of actions that could bring the Party into disrepute, weaken the Party’s authority, create division among members, and act against the interests of the All Progressives Congress.
"The State Executive Committee found that if these actions are proven, they violate Article 21.2(ii), (vi), (vii), and (viii) of the APC Constitution. This article forbids disloyalty, anti-party activities, conduct that could embarrass the Party, and actions that could cause discord among Party members.
"The State Executive Committee hereby suspends the following people immediately until investigations are finished and the APC Jigawa State Disciplinary Committee submits its report," the statement added.
Alongside Mr. Ibrahim, others suspended include Aisha Adamu (State Deputy Women Leader), Yargabi Babannan (Auyo Ward Women Leader), Musa Zabarau (Auyo Ward Chairman), Ibrahim Ayama (Auyo Local Government Vice Chairman), Saje Hadiyau (Auyo Local Government Financial Secretary), and Sani Hadiyau (Auyo Ward Vice Chairman).
Terms of Suspension
The party instructed the suspended officials to stop:
"Representing themselves as an officer, agent, or representative of the Party; attending or participating in party meetings, activities, or functions in any official capacity.
"Exercising any powers or privileges related to your office in the party, and taking any action that could interfere with or influence the disciplinary process."
The leadership also mentioned that this suspension is not a final decision and promised a fair investigation.
"You will have a chance to defend yourself before the Disciplinary Committee according to the Party's Constitution and the principles of natural justice.
"This suspension is a temporary measure and will stay in place until the disciplinary proceedings are concluded by the appropriate bodies of the Party," the statement concluded.
