Arsenal has signed Greece international forward Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge for a fee of £34 million.
The 24-year-old has joined the Premier League champions on a long-term deal. The club called him an "extremely versatile attacking player" who can play in various positions up front.
According to BBC Sport on Thursday, Tzolis comes to the Emirates Stadium after a strong time at Club Brugge. He scored 43 goals and provided 45 assists in 108 games.
His signing comes after Belgium forward Leandro Trossard moved to Besiktas earlier this month.
Arsenal's sporting director Andrea Berta praised Tzolis. He focused on his technical skills, finishing, and versatility.
"Christos usually plays on the left but can fit in anywhere in attack. He is a great finisher with both feet, excels in tight spaces, and has amazing technical skills," Berta said.
Berta also mentioned that Tzolis' scoring ability in recent seasons will boost Arsenal's squad. He brings energy, enthusiasm, and a strong mindset to the team.
Tzolis started his career at Greek club PAOK before moving to Norwich City in 2021. While at Norwich, he played 30 games and scored three goals. He also had loan spells at FC Twente and Fortuna Düsseldorf before joining Club Brugge.
Tzolis made his Premier League debut against Arsenal in September 2021. He played in Norwich’s 1-0 loss at the Emirates.
After finalizing his move, Tzolis shared that he had a good talk with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta about the club’s plans and his role.
"I’m a direct player. I go for goals or assists. That’s how I see myself as an attacker or winger," he said.
"I’m always eager to score or make the final pass to my teammates. I work hard for the team, including the defensive side."
This signing adds more attacking options for Arsenal as they get ready for another season aiming for major trophies.
